Your family's privacy, first

Plain-language details on what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Written for parents, and short enough to actually read.

The short version

Only parents create accounts and buy. Children just read and listen.
We collect the minimum: a parent's name and email, and a child's first name and age group.
No third-party ads, no selling data, and no tracking of children for marketing.
You can see, fix or delete everything, including your child's profile, whenever you like.

1.Who we are

kiddital ("we", "us") runs kiddital.com, an online shop for children's books with audio editions. We are the "controller" of the personal information described in this policy.

2.What we collect

From the parent or guardian, when you create an account:

Your name and email address.
A password. We store only a scrambled (hashed) version, never the password itself.

About your child, only what you choose to give us:

A first name (or nickname) and an age group, so we can suggest suitable books.
We do not ask for a child's surname, photo, address, school, phone number or exact birth date.

When you buy or read:

Your order history and the books in your library.
Reading and listening progress, such as the last page reached, so a story can resume where it stopped.
Favorites you save to a wishlist.
Payment details are collected and processed by our payment provider. We never see or store full card numbers.

Automatically:

Basic technical data such as browser type, device type and approximate region, used to keep the site working and secure.

3.Children's privacy

kiddital is designed for parents to shop and for children to read and listen. Only adults can create accounts or make purchases. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children, and checkout is protected by a "grown-ups only" check.

We follow the principles of children's privacy laws such as COPPA (United States) and the GDPR's rules for children (Europe and the UK). In practice this means:

Child profiles are created and managed by the parent, who gives consent for that limited information.
Children's information is never used for advertising, profiling for marketing, or sold.
There are no chat, comment or social features that would let a child share information with strangers.
You can review, correct or delete your child's profile at any time (see "Your choices and rights").

If you believe a child has given us personal information without a parent's consent, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

4.How we use information

We use the information we collect to:

Create and secure your account and process your orders.
Give access to the books and audio you have purchased, and remember your reading position.
Recommend age-appropriate books.
Send order receipts and account messages, and, only if you opt in, our weekly story newsletter (you can unsubscribe from any email).
Prevent fraud, keep the service safe and meet legal obligations.
Understand, in aggregate, which features are useful so we can improve kiddital.

Our legal bases (where the GDPR applies) are performing our contract with you, your consent, our legitimate interest in running a safe service, and legal obligation.

5.What we never do

We do not sell personal information.
We do not show third-party advertising, and we do not run behavioral advertising, on kiddital.
We do not build advertising profiles of children.
We do not let children publish, chat or share anything publicly.

6.Cookies and local storage

kiddital keeps a few small items in your own browser so the site works between visits. They stay on your device and are not used for tracking or advertising:

Cart and library: which books are in your cart and which you own.
Reading progress: the last page reached in each book.
Wishlist: books you have saved.

You can clear these at any time from your browser's settings. Doing so will empty the cart and reset reading positions on that device. We also use one strictly necessary, secure session cookie to keep you signed in to your account.

8.How long we keep it

We keep account and library information for as long as your account is open. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except for records we must keep by law (such as invoices, typically for several years). Child profiles and reading progress are deleted together with the profile.

9.Keeping information safe

We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls and secure providers to protect information. No online service can promise perfect security, but if a breach ever affects your information we will tell you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.

10.Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:

Show you the information we hold about you or your child.
Correct anything that is wrong.
Delete your account and your child's profile.
Give you a copy of your information in a portable format.
Stop sending marketing emails, or withdraw consent you previously gave.

Email muydinovmubosher@yandex.ru from the address on your account and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

11.International transfers

Our providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, so your information keeps a level of protection consistent with this policy.

12.Changes to this policy

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will post the new version here with a new "last updated" date and, where the change affects how we treat children's information, ask for your consent again. Our Terms of Use explain the rules for using kiddital.
